Extension Activities

The Foundation under its extension activities, viz. ‘Reach’, ‘Interfaith-Interaction’, and ‘Partnership’ takes up various activities, either independently or through state governments / administrations, non-governmental organizations, educational and other institutions, etc. with a view to promote communal harmony and national integration.

(I) Project ‘Reach’

The objective of Project ‘Reach’ is to create awareness and promote communal harmony and national integration through activities such as seminars, workshops, debates, interfaith dialogues, rallies, paintings, essay writing competitions, music and cultural programmes, etc. Assistance is provided to State/UT Administrations, Educational Institutions and VOs / NGOs for organizing such activities. VOs/NGOs should forward their proposals through the concerned State Governments / UT Administrations in the prescribed Application Format and as per the procedure. However, an institution established under an Act of Parliament / State Legislative Assembly can apply directly to the Foundation. The scale of assistance is limited to Rs.5.00 lakh per annum per State / UT.

(II) Project ‘Interfaith-Interaction’

Assistance is extended to State Governments / UT Administrations, educational Institutions and VOs / NGOs for organizing inter-community and inter-faith interactions / get-togethers on important festivals / occasions like Id, Deepawali, Christmas, Vaisakhi, Lohri, Onam, Pongal and festivals / fairs such as Phool-walon-ki Sair, Nauchandi Mela, etc. VOs/NGOs should forward their proposals through the concerned State Governments / UT Administrations in the prescribed Application Format and as per the procedure. However, an institution established under an Act of Parliament/ State Legislative Assembly can apply directly to the Foundation The amount of assistance is limited to Rs. 50,000/- per festival per annum for two such festivals in a State/ UT.

(III) Project ‘Partnership’

The scheme has the provision of partnering with (a) the UN organizations, (b) different Government organizations (like NYKS, NSS, etc.) and (c) renowned all India level VOs/ NGOs for furthering the objectives of the Foundation. The Foundation may organize programmes on pro-active basis and approach the relevant organizations in the matter. Reputed VOs / NGOs desirous to undertake innovative activities in collaboration with NFCH may also give initial request to the Foundation with a brief description of project / proposal. Approval to such proposals / projects will depend upon availability of the verification of the credentials of partnering organizations by some appropriate government authority during the last two years. Not more than five programmes will be organized under this scheme during a year. Maximum annual provision for this project has been kept as Rs.5 lakh only out of the total budget for the Extension Activities per year.

‘Cause-Partnership’

The Foundation may be willing to associate itself with other Government Departments, the UN organizations, educational institutions or VOs/NGOs, to promote communal harmony and national integration, without provision of any financial assistance.
